I like to set myself a massive new physical challenge every year and spend the majority of the year training for that goal. I love the discipline and grit that comes with training and I love watching my body transform to achieve things it previously couldn't. Below is a schedule of my completed and planned annual challenges to date.
2020
All 12 of California's 14,000 ft mountain peaks in one calendar year. Building all-girls expedition team. Status: Waiting for late spring to start. If you're female, have the basic level of endurance + backcountry knowhow, and would like to join this project, please get in touch.
2019
1st full marathon (26.2 miles). Surfer's Path, Santa Cruz, CA. May 2019. Status: Completed. Final time: 6 hours 10 minutes.
2018
17-day, 226-mile, 8-person rafting trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. August 2018. Status: Completed. Final tally: 226 river miles from Lee's Ferry to Diamond Creek in 17 days.
2017
2-week solo, unguided climb of Mt. Aconcagua, tallest peak outside the Himalayas. Status: Completed - reached last camp (Camp Cholera at 20,000 ft). No summit bid due to storm.
2016
1-month solo surfing trip through Mexico's northwestern coast. Status: Completed - though not much surfing done.
2015
6-month, multi-country backpacking trip through Latin America. Status: Completed. Covered 5 countries and over 3,000 miles by land.
3-month, 36-member crew, cross-Pacific sailing voyage. Status: Completed. Logged 3,100 nautical miles from New Zealand to French Polynesia.
